How’s the weather where you are?

It’s not snowing here, but a friend shared this gif with me and I love it.

I’m in Portland, Oregon, and the rains the last day or so have been intense. We broke a record on Monday for the most rainfall recorded in one day, which is pretty crazy for us. I commuted by bus on Monday and was 1.5 hours late for work, as were my co-workers who drove. Major highways were closed due to flooding and mudslides, and a huge sinkhole swallowed a road. Not to mention all the car accidents and fallen trees.

Today has been steady rain and crazy wind. I have a lot of trees in my yard, and honestly, I’m kind of hoping that a tree falls on my roof and doesn’t cause structural damage, but just enough damage that I can get insurance to pay for a new roof because I really need one.

I remember last winter when we were pretty smug about our mild weather while the East Coast and Midwest got pounded with snow. I think we’re getting our comeuppance. I know it’s not winter yet, but we usually ease into fall. This year, though, it went from nice to shitty in a matter of days. I’m really not looking forward to this winter. I think it’s going to be wet and snowy and terrible all around.
